Leif (レイジ, Reiji, Lazy) is a sloth introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. He runs the Garden Center, where the player can buy flowers, saplings, fertilizer, and gardening tools such as the watering can and the axe. As a nod to his ownership of the store, Leif's name is a pun on the word "leaf." After Timmy and Tommy's store expands to T.I.Y., the Garden Center will merge, and Leif has a new, larger selection of items. He is usually cheerful and happy, referring to his flower bags as "happy flower bags".

Depending on the version of the game, on a certain day, Leif hosts Weeding Day. When all the weeds are pulled, Leif rewards the player with a prize which consists of one of the furniture items from the Flower set. If the day starts and there are no weeds in town, Leif rewards the player with a special award: the Happy Genorosity Award. In addition, he makes three public works projects - the round, square, and tulip topiaries - available for erection and gifts the player with a flower bag containing a hybrid flower.

Leif

Description Although he's a sloth, there's nothing lazy about Leif. He works hard to sell seeds, saplings, and gardening supplies, all while fighting the temptation to dangle from his plants. I wonder if Leif knows how much all his hard work brightens the days of those around him...
