Ribbot (ガチャ, Gacha) is a jock, frog villager in Animal Crossing series. His name is a portmanteau of the sound made by frogs ("ribbit") and the name of the human-like machine, a "robot". His Japanese name, "Gacha", likely comes from Gashapon, a type of capsule toy usually sold in vending machines. He is one of the few villagers in the game who are not technically animals, along with Sprocket, Coco, and Stitches. Both him and Lily switched their catchphrase in different games.

Appearance

Ribbot from Animal Crossing

Because Ribbot is a robotic frog, he is made entirely of metal. He has several lines on his face where the metal has been bolted together, and his mouth looks like a storage chute which opens outwards. He has headlights that resemble eyes, which, when he is talking, have pupils appear inside them. His initial shirt is the Pulse Shirt in Animal Crossing, which is a Gracie design and goes with his robotic appearance. In Animal Crossing: Wild World onward his shirt changes to the Lightning Tee. He also has the number "59" written in white on the back of his head, which could hint that he is one of many robots of his kind to be made, which relates to how mass-produced products in real life tend to be given numbers. There is a blue and red stripe of the front of his head, located between his eyes.

He looks misplaced amongst the other animals, as he is a robot, whereas they are all anthropomorphic animals.

Personality

Below is a brief description of the jock personality. For more information, click here.

He has a jock personality, which means he will have a keen interest in sport and fitness, making him appear competitive and in some cases rude when talking to other villagers, usually criticizing their fitness. He will also enjoy fossil digging. He will appear slow-witted and absent-minded when talking about deep, meaningful things. He will get along well with the player, appearing friendly and competitive when talking to them. He will get along well with peppy villagers, but get confused by the choice of lifestyle followed by lazy villagers, who appear opposite to the jock personality. He may offend and upset snooty and cranky villagers, by judging their fitness and physique.

House

Ribbot's house at it appears in City Folk

Ribbot's house is full of space-themed furniture which goes with his space-age appearance. A similar villager with the space furniture is Carmen, in City Folk.

In Animal Crossing, his house has a Lunar Lander, Lunar Rider, Spaceman Sam, Asteroid, Space Shuttle, Satellite and the Rocket. He also has two gyroids a Tall Quazoid and Slim Quazoid. His wallpaper and carpet are the Lunar Horizon and Lunar Surface obtainable from Wendell and Saharah.

In City Folk, he has the lunar lander, lunar rider, two spaceman Sams, two asteroids, space shuttle, satellite, and a Slim Quazoid in his house. He also has the lunar horizon wallpaper and lunar surface flooring, available from Saharah. He has no music playing device, but upon gaining one, he will have Go K.K. Rider! playing on it.

In New Leaf, his house features sleek furniture and lab furniture, including an amazing machine, a time clock atop a complex machine, a sleek couch and an unknown machine. He has no music playing device originally, but owns a single gyroid in the SE corner of his house.
