Re-Tail (R·パーカーズ, R·Pākāzu, R. Parkers) is a store introduced NL, and one of the initial stores appearing in the game. Unlike most the stores which are located on Main Street, Re-Tail is located within the town. It is a flea-market run by Reese and Cyrus. Players and Villagers can place their items for sale within the flea-market spaces, Reese will buy or dispose of items from the player, and Cyrus can craft customized furniture. The flea-market makes Re-Tail one of the few places where the rare Sloppy Series can be obtained.
+
Re-Tail is a shop in NL that is operated by Reese and Cyrus. The player can sell items to Reese, and Cyrus can customize furniture items. Additionally, the player or can put items up for sale in the shop's flea market for a price of their choice to be purchased by other players or one of the town's villagers; villagers can also place items of their own for sale.

The shop's wallpaper, the Pink Shanty Wall, cannot be obtained in New Leaf but is available to use in HHD. The shop's carpet, the Oil Stained Floor can be obtained from Cyrus' RV for 3 MEOW Coupons and is also available to use in Happy Home Designer.
+
Unlike all other permanent shops in short, which are located on Main Street, Re-Tail is located in the player's town. By default the shop is open from 9 AM to 11 PM; the Early Bird ordinance makes it open three hours earlier, and the Night Owl ordinance makes it close three hours later.

Features
+
Beginning in the short update, the shop's carpet, the oil-stained floor, can be obtained from Cyrus's RV. The oil-stained floor also appears in HHD alongside the shop's wallpaper, the pink shanty wall.
Reese
Reese handles all of the purchases and sales in the store. The player is able to sell any unwanted items to Reese for a higher amount than any other store in the game. If the player attempts to sell a junk item such as an old tire, however, Reese will charge them a disposal fee.

On each day of the week except for Sunday, the player can also ask Reese for the current price of white turnips, which changes at noon.
+
Selling items
 +
Reese can buy any item from the player for its full price, unlike the Nooklings, who pay 80% of the full sell price and cannot buy certain types of items. Additionally, Reese can tell the player the current turnip price, and Re-Tail is the only place where they can be sold.

Reese also manages the various sale tables located in the store, which allow players and villagers to purchase or put up items for sale. Occasionally, villagers will enter the store and can be convinced by any player to purchase an item on display. Other players from other villages are also able to purchase items on display from Reese.
+
Double-price items
 +
The sign outside Re-Tail lists a different item or type of item each day that can be sold on that day for double its usual sell price. This mechanic would later return in NH for Nook's Cranny.

If there is flooring or wallpaper on display, the player can see what the flooring/wallpaper will look like by talking to Reese, and this will cause the wallpaper or flooring to be shown on the shop wall or floor, respectively. However, wallpaper and flooring put up by villagers cannot be viewed in this way. When a villager buys wallpaper or flooring that is on display, they won't put it in their house.
+
There are eight internal groups of items that can be chosen as the double-price item. Each day, one of the groups is chosen. The chance each group has of being chosen varies based on the month:

Normally, one item or item type is listed each day, but through a hidden StreetPass points system, up to five can be listed. Each StreetPass any player living in the town receives gives a single point, and reaching certain point thresholds increases the number of listed items by one; the number of points for the town resets each day. The player can list an item to be sold and set their own price. The item can be purchased by other players or by a villager; the lower the price set, the more likely a villager is to buy an item. Villagers will never buy an item if the price is 10,000 Bells or higher. Once an item is listed, its price can be changed, or it can be taken back. ===Villager items===
 +
Villagers can also list items to be sold at the flea market, which can be bought by the player. Below is how the game determines what item a villager will list at the flea market:
 +
*If the villager is smug, normal, snooty, or big sister:
 +
:*If they have at least eight eligible items in their house (see item restrictions):
 +
::*100% — an eligible furniture item from their house
 +
:*If they do not have at least eight eligible items in their house:
 +
::*100% — a random furniture item from the town's common group
 +
*If the villager is lazy, jock, cranky, or peppy:
 +
:*If they have at least eight eligible items in their house (see item restrictions):
 +
::*95% — an eligible furniture item from their house
 +
::*5% — a cardboard bed, cardboard chair, cardboard closet, cardboard sofa, cardboard table, or any item from the Sloppy Series
 +
:*If they do not have at least eight eligible items in their house:
 +
::*66.5% — a random furniture item from the town's common group
 +
::*33.5% — a cardboard bed, cardboard chair, cardboard closet, cardboard sofa, cardboard table, or any item from the Sloppy Series
 +

 +
The flea market is the only way to obtain the cardboard bed, cardboard chair, cardboard closet, cardboard sofa, cardboard table, and items from the Sloppy Series. Villagers will sell the item they put up for between 50% and 90% of its catalog price, in increments of 10%.
 +

 +
Item restrictions
 +
For both players and villagers, the following items cannot be listed for sale at the flea market:
 +
*Any item that cannot be sold at Timmy and Tommy's store
 +
*Any item that cannot be ordered from the catalog
 +
*Mannequins (these cannot be sold to Reese or refurbished by Cyrus either)
 +
*Any item that has a size greater than 2×2

*Any fish, bug, or sea creature
 +
*Bells
 +
*Any item that requires a disposal fee to be paid when sold (e.g. trash or art forgeries)

Initially, Cyrus is asleep and cannot be spoken to. After the player has lived in town for at least seven days, sold at least 100,000 Bells-worth of items at Re-Tail, cataloged at least 100 furniture items, and cataloged at least 50 clothing items, he wakes up and allows the player to customize furniture items.
 +

If the player speaks to Cyrus while a customizable furniture item is in their pockets, they can have it customized for 10% of its buy price. Once the player selects the body and/or pattern variation, Cyrus takes the item and after 30 minutes, the customization is completed. For the first 7 days of the game, Cyrus will be sleeping at his desk, and the player will be unable to speak with him. Once the player has sold 100,000 Bells worth of items to Reese, has at least 100 pieces of furniture and 50 pieces of clothing in the catalog, and has been in town for over 7 days, Cyrus will wake up, and his services will be available. Through Cyrus, the player can make customized furniture using designs. The player can also use other items, such as ores to make custom items. Whenever a furniture item is customized, the item will appear in the player's pockets as a red leaf.  If the item is customized with a custom pattern or design, it will appear in the pockets as a yellow leaf and it cannot be attached to a letter, wrapped with wrapping paper, or dropped on the ground.

* In the Japanese version of the game, the name R. Parkers is supposed to be a pun on the word "alpaca," the species of Reese and Cyrus. However, since the Japanese language has one alveolar consonant in place for both "L" and "R", the name is "R. * If one goes to a Japanese town via the Dream Suite, there will be R. Parkers signage instead of Re-Tail. This applies to other non-English towns where Re-Tail is known differently.

Re-Tail is a shop in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that is operated by Reese and Cyrus. The player can sell items to Reese, and Cyrus can customize furniture items. Additionally, the player or can put items up for sale in the shop's flea market for a price of their choice to be purchased by other players or one of the town's villagers; villagers can also place items of their own for sale.

Unlike all other permanent shops in New Leaf, which are located on Main Street, Re-Tail is located in the player's town. By default the shop is open from 9 AM to 11 PM; the Early Bird ordinance makes it open three hours earlier, and the Night Owl ordinance makes it close three hours later.

Beginning in the Welcome amiibo update, the shop's carpet, the oil-stained floor, can be obtained from Cyrus's RV. The oil-stained floor also appears in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer alongside the shop's wallpaper, the pink shanty wall.

Selling items[edit]

Reese can buy any item from the player for its full price, unlike the Nooklings, who pay 80% of the full sell price and cannot buy certain types of items. Additionally, Reese can tell the player the current turnip price, and Re-Tail is the only place where they can be sold.

Double-price items[edit]

The sign outside Re-Tail lists a different item or type of item each day that can be sold on that day for double its usual sell price. This mechanic would later return in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nook's Cranny.

There are eight internal groups of items that can be chosen as the double-price item. Each day, one of the groups is chosen. The chance each group has of being chosen varies based on the month:

Flea market[edit]

There are 8 item flea-market slots in Re-Tail where the player or villagers can purchase items or list them for sale. Villagers who enter the shop can be convinced by the player to purchase an item that is for sale, and they will display any furniture items purchased in their house.

Player items[edit]

The player placing an item for sale at the flea market

The player can list an item to be sold and set their own price. The item can be purchased by other players or by a villager; the lower the price set, the more likely a villager is to buy an item. Villagers will never buy an item if the price is 10,000 Bells or higher. Once an item is listed, its price can be changed, or it can be taken back. If one of the player's items are sold, the Bells earned are automatically sent to their savings account. If a villager buys a player's item while that player is in the store, they will pay directly.

Filbert paying the player after he bought their item

Villager items[edit]

Villagers can also list items to be sold at the flea market, which can be bought by the player. Below is how the game determines what item a villager will list at the flea market:

 • 100% — an eligible furniture item from their house
 • If they do not have at least eight eligible items in their house:
 • 100% — a random furniture item from the town's common group
 • If they do not have at least eight eligible items in their house:
 • 66.5% — a random furniture item from the town's common group
 • 33.5% — a cardboard bed, cardboard chair, cardboard closet, cardboard sofa, cardboard table, or any item from the Sloppy Series

The flea market is the only way to obtain the cardboard bed, cardboard chair, cardboard closet, cardboard sofa, cardboard table, and items from the Sloppy Series. Villagers will sell the item they put up for between 50% and 90% of its catalog price, in increments of 10%.

Item restrictions[edit]

For both players and villagers, the following items cannot be listed for sale at the flea market:

Customizing furniture[edit]

Main article: Furniture customization
The player confirming to Cyrus on the wood variant for a Blue Wardrobe

Initially, Cyrus is asleep and cannot be spoken to. After the player has lived in town for at least seven days, sold at least 100,000 Bells-worth of items at Re-Tail, cataloged at least 100 furniture items, and cataloged at least 50 clothing items, he wakes up and allows the player to customize furniture items.

If the player speaks to Cyrus while a customizable furniture item is in their pockets, they can have it customized for 10% of its buy price. Once the player selects the body and/or pattern variation, Cyrus takes the item and after 30 minutes, the customization is completed. Additionally, if the player has an ore in their pockets while customizing a compatible item, they can choose to have the item's body variation customized based on the selected ore.
