Some fans believe that Cornimer is [[Mayor Tortimer|Tortimer]] dressed up. Although some people think he is Tortimer in disguise, and others think he is a relative or a friend, the strange thing is that during the [[Acorn Festival]] you cannot see Tortimer behind the desk in the [[Town Hall]]. Another piece of evidence that Cornimer is possibly Tortimer is that when the first time Cornimer laughs in his dialogue towards the player he says "Hef Horf Horf... Wait no! Good luck lil' Oakie!" He even says, " I'm Cornimer and I'm all mysterious and stuff" which he is mysterious because of how he might be Tortimer. The only difference in appearence between Tortimer and Cornimer is their heads. They both have the same shell, cane, and bow tie. Their names even sound similar. Another factor towards this theory is that Tortimer loves to prank the villagers and the player (like on April 1st of Animal Crossing he gives the player an unusable video game).

Cornimer is a tortoise who appears in Animal Crossing: Wild World, Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In Wild World, Cornimer is a holiday-specific visitor in town and will exchange items for acorns. In Welcome amiibo, he appears only in Animal Crossing Puzzle League as the final boss. In New Horizons, Cornimer serves the same functions as Tortimer, providing the player access to their storage, but only appears during fall and will give the player acorns when talked to.

It is implied that Cornimer and Tortimer are the same character. Cornimer's name is likely a portmanteau of "acorn" and "Tortimer."
