Copper (おまわりさんA, Omawarisan, Policeman A / もんばんさんB, Monban-san B, Mr. Gatekeeper B) is a dog who appears in all the Animal Crossing series games along with his working partner, Booker. Copper's name comes from the slang term for police officer, "copper." He strongly resembles Japan's national breed, the Akita. In all four games, Copper's dedication to professionalism and his work is in sharp contrast with Booker's doddering incompetence. Copper also prides early risers and warns the player to be careful when wandering around at night. Copper cannot tell the player about the lost and found, but he can tell him or her and type in friend codes with him. The player can visit other people's towns only by using WiiConnect24 or Nintendo WFC.

Copper displays extreme dedication to his job, sacrificing his own desires in order to fulfill his duties.

Appearances

Animal Forest and Animal Crossing

In Animal Crossing, Copper works at the Police Station where he alerts the player of upcoming events, the location of visitors in the town, hosts morning workout regimes in the summer and gives the player's friends a map of the town. Copper marks the player's attendance to morning exercises, and a reward is given if the player participates for a certain number of days.

Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk

In Wild World and City Folk, Copper has the same job, opening or closing the Town Gate for the player's friends to come through and play. Copper will explain everything that the player needs to know about visiting or inviting a friend. He is on the right side of the Town Gate. On the left is Booker. Copper will give the player their friend code, so they can exchange it with their friends. Copper is much more brave and daring than his partner, Booker, and mocks Booker in his shyness. He also helps with the DS Suitcase.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

NL Modern Police Station Interior.jpg

Copper appears once the modern police station is completed as a result of a public works project. He maintains a lost and found and he tells players of any new presence in town, from new villagers to Crazy Redd's appearances and to Gulliver's being washed ashore.

Copper & Booker

Description The guards stationed at the town gate through which travelers come and go. Copper, who's on the right, is in charge of traveling via Nintendo WFC, and Booker on the left runs the lost and found. Booker's a cute fellow who's known for his indecisive manner...maybe. Copper's diligent, dedicated, and always ready to lend a helping paw.
