In New Horizons, Derwin has the play hobby and can run around with his arms extended at any time, rather than only outside Resident Services during a scripted activity with a group of villagers.
Derwin is a blue duck who appears to have thick glasses, a few freckles, and orange hair on top of his head. He has a yellow beak and feet, and his eyes almost always seem to be closed.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the lazy personality. For more information, click here.
As a lazy villager, Derwin has a relaxed, laid-back lifestyle and will appear friendly toward the player. He often talks about food and is humorous or naïve during conversations. During conversations with other villagers, he generally gets along well with peppy, smug, and cranky villagers, while snooty and jock villagers may not get along with him due to their conflicting lifestyles. In New Horizons, Derwin goes to sleep at 11 PM and wakes up at 8 AM.
Ideal clothing for Derwin – Yellow / Beige Simple and Elegant clothing
Villagers prefer clothing that matches any one of their favorite colors or styles. For brevity, the following list only shows clothing that matches both favorite colors and one favorite style.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, if Derwin is one of the villagers who moved in during the main storyline after the villager house development quest, his house will have a combination of non-craftable furniture, plus items crafted by players during the island development storyline, primarily from the Log Series and applicable native fruit sets. He cannot have his initial house interior unless he moves out of the player's island or the Happy Home Paradise DLC is purchased, in which either the player or Isabelle can reset the interior.
Derwin tries hard to act like an adult, but everyone still treats him like a kid. Is it his fault that he believes adults should nap and eat all the time, without a care in the world?
Derwin isn't the sharpest duck on the pond. He was walking around one day, and someone yelled "Duck!" And instead of ducking, he turned around and said, "Yes?" A soccer ball whacked him, and now he wears glasses.
↑Derwin's headwear during the Countdown can either be the New Year's silk hat or the New Year's hat, each rotating every year. The hat's variation will vary depending on what variations Tom Nook is selling at his stand.
↑If it is Derwin's birthday, his headwear will be replaced with the birthday hat (Blue variation).
