Summer in the Animal Crossing series is a season that start on June 1st and ends on August 31st. In the Southern Hemisphere in New Horizons, summer starts at December 1st and ends on February 28th (or 29th on leap years).

The setting of summer is where the trees and grass are at their greenest. The weather is mainly sunny with the possibility of rainfall towards the middle of June / December to early July / January. In games prior to New Horizons, the sunshine allows for the player to receive a tan when stood outside for long periods of time without holding an umbrella.

Halfway through June in the Northern Hemisphere, heavy rainfall with possibly of thunderstorms will appear frequently and will last through the early part of July. For the rest of July / January, it is hot and dry, with occasional small bursts of rain. Neighbors during this period will complain that it is too hot. In August / February, it's usually humid and neighbors will complain about the "stickyness". It will sometimes rain, but when it does its usually around the end of the day or the afternoon. This usually brings up the chances of encountering a rainbow on these dates. By the end of season, the trees and the grass will turn into a deeper or darker shade of green which will deteroiate as the next season begins.

In New Horizons, beaches will occasionally spawn [[Item:Summer Shell ({{{2}}})|Summer Shell]]s to use in DIY recipes. Additionally for the Southern Hemisphere, from December 15th to Janaury 6th, all existing cedar trees will be decorated with lights, and when shaken, produces [[Item:Red Ornament ({{{2}}})|Red Ornament]], [[Item:Blue Ornament ({{{2}}})|Blue Ornament]], and [[Item:Gold Ornament ({{{2}}})|Gold Ornament]]s for DIY projects. Rain occurs infrequently during this time in part due to festivities with Toy Day and New Years.

Events

Below is a list of events during summer, what happens during each, in which game, and when. Note that Hemispheres is only accounted for in New Horizons.

Prior to New Horizons, Chip will challenge the villagers of the town to catch the biggest fish (either overall or a specific type of fish). In New Horizons, C.J. will ask players to catch as many fishes as possible within a 3 minute time range. The Fishing Tourney lasts from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M., after which the winner is rewarded a trophy (or in New Horizons, the player can continue redeeming points for fish swag until 8 P.M.).
Bug-Off	Wild World: June 16, July 21, August 18, and September 15 City Folk/New Leaf: June 15, July 20, August 17, and September 21 New Horizons (Northern Hemisphere): June 22, July 27, August 24, and September 28 New Horizons (Southern Hemisphere): January 20, February 17, November 16, and December 21	Wild World City Folk New Leaf New Horizons	Nat (or Tortimer in Wild World and Flick in New Horizons) will set up a stall in the plaza. In games prior to New Horizons, Nat (or Tortimer) will challenge the player and other villagers to catch the most interesting insect in terms of color, luster, size and rarity using a point system. In New Horizons, Flick will ask players to catch as many bugs as possible within a 3 minute time range. The Bug-Off lasts from 9 A.M. (or 12 P.M. in Wild World) to 6 P.M., after which the winner is rewarded a trophy (or in New Horizons, the player can continue redeeming points for bug artifacts until 8 P.M.).
Camping Season	June, July, and August	Animal Crossing	Animals may visit the player's town during the summer months to camp out for a while. If the player talks to them they may give out special furniture. But, to earn it, they have to play a game.
Wedding Season	June	New Horizons	Harvey will ask the player to take anniversary photos of Reese and Cyrus's wedding in Harv's Island. Players are rewarded with heart crystals which can be used to purchase wedding furniture from Cyrus.
Flea Market	Wild World: June 1 and July 6 City Folk: June 23 and July 28	Wild World City Folk	Players can visit villager's homes and buy selected items of furniture. Likewise, villagers can visit the player's house and buy items from them, at a price set by the player. The Flea Market will not occur during August due to the Fireworks Show.
Father's Day	City Folk/New Leaf: June 16	City Folk New Leaf	Fathers across the world are celebrated. In New Leaf, a letter from Dad will arrive in the mail, including a red carnation.
Summer Solstice	June 21	City Folk () New Leaf	The longest day in the player's town/island. In City Folk Tortimer stands outside the town hall and will give the player an espresso maker. In New Leaf, the sun will never set even at midnight on this day and Isabelle will be in the Event plaza, giving the player a pair of Ladder Shades.
La-Di-Day	July 13	Wild World	On this day, the player can hear villagers' suggestions for a new town tune. After the tune is sung to the player, they can decide whether or not they want it saved as the town's new melody.
Yay Day	July 28	Wild World	Villagers swap compliments with the player, and may refer to them infrequently after the event.
Morning Aerobics	July 25 to August 31	Animal Crossing	Speak to Tortimer to receive a special event card. Every morning, through the event, Copper will host the morning aerobics whereupon the player has their card stamped. Once it has been stamped 14 times, the player will receive a special aerobics radio, to perform the exercises in their own homes. (Copper needs to be spoken to after each event). If the player tilts the C stick on the GameCube controller in different directions while near the aerobics radio, they can actually do aerobics.
Fireworks Show	Doubutsu no Mori/Wild World: August 3,  10,  17, and  24 Animal Crossing: July 4 City Folk/New Leaf/New Horizons (Northern Hemisphere): August 4,  11,  18, and  25	Animal Crossing Wild World City Folk New Leaf New Horizons	The summer nights come alive in the town with a fireworks display. A sparkler can be obtained by talking to Tortimer. In New Leaf and New Horizons, Isabelle will give the player special items in the Plaza. Redd will also be there to sell special fortune cookies in New Leaf or raffles in New Horizons for items.
Meteor Shower	August 12	Animal Crossing	Watch the meteor shower and talk to Tortimer, who will give the player something for attending.
Toy Day	December 24 (Southern Hemisphere)	New Horizons	On December 24th, Jingle will wander around the player's island all day, and he'll ask the player to distribute presents to villagers. The days leading up to Toy Day the players can purchase toys from Nook's Cranny and festive clothing.
Countdown	December 31 (Southern Hemisphere)	New Horizons	Isabelle and Tom Nook will stand outside in the plaza with a large countdown clock, as it counts down the seconds till midnight and is adorned with flashing lights. In the final hour, villagers will talk about their past year, and the music will change several times, building in tension in the last minute with a beep for every second. After midnight, fireworks will go off in the sky and residents will wish the player a Happy New Years.
